4th of July Parade and Picnic!

Dear Neighbors,

On Saturday, July 4th at 10:00 am, we will enjoy the the 5th annual Hancock Neighborhood Association 4th of July Parade and Picnic at the Lee Elementary playground. If you plan to attend, please consider lending a hand to help make this a fun event for all of our families.

We are asking neighbors to bring the following items to make this an enjoyable event for all. Please let me know if you can bring any:

  • card tables or outdoor tables so that we can serve food
  • a pickup truck or van to pick up tables and coolers from neighbors who can't bring them in small cars
  • large trash cans to collect trash and recycling
  • a large cooler to hold ice and water
  • donations of food and beverages (watermelon, chips, water, lemonade, hot dogs and condiments, desserts)
  • paper plates, napkins or cups

We will also need volunteers to pull the event together. Please let me know if you can help with any of the following:

  • putting yard signs around the neighborhood the week before the parade (20 minutes)
  • putting flags in yards along the parade route (8 blocks, 20 minutes)
  • setting up tables and putting out food the morning of the parade (30 minutes)
  • removing flags and signs from around the neighborhood after the parade (30 minutes)
  • removing tables and decorations after the event, helping neighbors pack their cars

Your help would be greatly appreciated. If you are interested in volunteering or have questions, please contact Melissa Linden at mkalinden (at) gmail.com.

All families and pets are invited to participate in the parade or to cheer on the participants along the route. The parade route will begin at the Lee Elementary School parking lot on Harris Avenue and travel west on Harris Avenue, north on Woodrow Street, west on Texas Avenue, south on Montrose, and then follow Harris Avenue back to Lee Elementary. At the school we will enjoy snacks, watermelon, lemonade, cold water, entertainment for the kids and more!

Thank!
