The City of Austin is conducting a historic resources survey of the North Loop, Hancock, and Upper Boggy Creek neighborhood planning areas. The purpose of the project is to document the histories of these areas and identify potential historic landmarks and historic districts. The City has retained Austin-based professional historians and architectural historians from Cox|McLain Environmental Consulting, Inc. and Preservation Central Inc. to complete the project. Survey fieldwork will be conducted between December 2019 and February 2020 and will involve taking notes on the architectural features of buildings 45 years old or older (such as exterior materials and roof form), mapping the locations of resources, and taking digital photographs. All work will be completed from the public right-of-way.
Members of the community area are encouraged to participate in the project.
