Dear District 9 Residents,

I want to take this opportunity to remind you of the upcoming deadlines for submitting public comments on CodeNEXT’s maps and affordability plan.

Friday, July 7th is the deadline for submitting your comments on CodeNEXT’s draft map. As you may be aware, the draft maps propose significant changes to neighborhoods throughout District 9. If you have not already, please take the opportunity to view the proposed map of your neighborhood and provide feedback to the CodeNEXT consultants.

The CodeNEXT consultants recently released their affordability plan. This part of the Code is critical to the City of Austin and requires comprehensive review and public feedback. Public comments on the affordability plan are due by Friday, July 14th.

If you would like to schedule an appointment with CodeNEXT staff, please visit tiny.cc/codenextofficehours or call (512) 974-3583 to make an appointment to speak to a CodeNEXT planner about the draft zoning map and affordability plan.

If you would like to view the questions that the Council has submitted, please visit: http://www.austintexas.gov/budget/codeNext/index.cfm.

Your public input is paramount during this process. Please feel free to copy me at kathie.tovo@austintexas.gov in your correspondence with the CodeNEXT consultants so I can be aware of your feedback and questions.

Sincerely,

Mayor Pro Tem Kathie Tovo
Council Member District 9

Baker Sector (1 2) Commander's Forum Tuesday May 30

Hello,

Commander Andrew Michael would like to invite you a community forum next week Tuesday May 30th at Lee Elementary School, 3308 Hampton Road in the library from 6:30pm to 8:00pm. We are going to try a new approach to the forums. Instead of quarterly forums involving the entire Region 1, we are now going to have monthly meetings where we invite a smaller number of districts. In this case, we are only inviting residents from West Campus, NUNA, Old Enfield, Pemberton, OWANA, Hancock, Red River, East woods Caswell Heights, or anyone living in the Baker 1 and 2 Districts. We are having these meetings in your neighborhood with the hopes of generating more attendance and participation. This is your opportunity to ask your District Rep or the Commander any questions you have regarding APD. Next month, we will have a meeting involving residents from Baker 3 and 4. We will be updating our meeting schedule in the future on our website. Hope to see you there!

Dear District 9 Neighbors,

Please mark your calendars for June 3 for an important meeting about CodeNEXT and District 9.

As many of you know, City staff and consultants released the CodeNEXT draft Code and maps in recent weeks; both the proposed Code and the proposed maps could prompt significant land use changes in most District 9 neighborhoods.

On June 3, 2017, City staff will host a CodeNEXT Open House at City Hall from 10:00 AM - 12:00 p.m., and I hope you will attend.

As we approach June 3rd, please visit http://austintexas.gov/codenext to learn more about CodeNEXT, to read the proposed land use code, and to view the proposed maps. You can also find links on that page for online commenting and to schedule office hours to ask city staff questions about the proposals. If you have specific feedback for City staff and the consultants about the proposed Code or the mapping, please also feel free to copy my office (kathie.tovo@austintexas.gov) so that I am also aware of your feedback.

This new Code has the potential to impact every Austinite for years to come. Please come prepared with feedback, ideas, and questions for the CodeNEXT City staff.

Subject: Red River Extended Hours Pilot Begins Today

We’re writing to let you know that the Red River Extended Hours Pilot Program begins today. The pilot temporarily allows five Red River outdoor music venues to play amplified music one additional hour on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. During the pilot the city will collect data to determine the impact of extended live music hours on venues, local musicians and residents. The 6-month pilot takes place
now through November 1st.

As part of the pilot we will place sound monitoring units at the property lines of participating venues and in nearby neighborhoods. For more information, to view sound measurement levels in real time, and to see weekly sound monitoring reports please visit the pilot website at www.austintexas.gov/page/red-river-pilot-program.

To let us know about sound impacts in the neighborhoods on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings you may also call the pilot hotline at 512-593-9221 to speak to Music & Entertainment Division staff in the field so we can better understand and investigate issues while they are occurring.
